Jade Magazine

Our office is at 401, Aakarshan Banjara, which is right on Road No. 3 in the Banjara Hills area of Hyderabad. It’s a well-known part of town, so it is easy for people to find us. At Jade Magazine, we spend our days surrounded by stacks of papers, old issues, and a lot of coffee mugs. It isn’t a very quiet place because there is always someone talking on the phone or typing away at their keyboard trying to meet a deadline. The room is filled with desks pushed close together and walls covered in layout proofs and photos. We have a small team of writers and editors who are usually busy arguing about which story should go where or checking facts for the next issue. The 500034 area is quite nice, but we mostly see it through the windows while we are working late. We don’t have any corporate protocols that make things stiff; it’s more of a creative mess where everyone just knows what they need to do. Sometimes the delivery guys bring in boxes of new magazines and we have to clear floor space just to walk around. It is a bit of a squeeze but we are used to it by now. We just focus on putting out the next edition and making sure the stories are interesting enough for the people who read us. It’s a regular job with plenty of stress but we enjoy the routine of the monthly cycle.
