Our place, J J Foods, is right by the Bahadurpura Post Office at number 45. It’s a good landmark because everyone knows where the post office is. We focus on preparing food items that people can take home or sell in their own stalls. The kitchen area is the heart of what we do. It’s always loud with the sound of pans and stoves going. We aren't a big corporation with hundreds of workers; there’s only a handful of us here every day. We start early in the morning when the air is still a bit cool. Most of what we make gets picked up by local vendors by midday. The building itself is older, with high ceilings and some patches on the walls where the paint has flaked off. We don't worry too much about the decor as long as the cooking area is clean and functional. There’s a small table near the front where we sit to have our tea and talk about what needs to be done for the week. It’s a simple, honest way to make a living. We don't do any big advertising; word of mouth usually brings people to our door. If you come by, you’ll likely see some of us out front loading up a cart or just taking a quick break. It’s a busy life but we enjoy the work.
