We are based out of Smq-466 at the Air Force Academy in Dundigal. Being out here in Hyd-43 means life follows a very specific rhythm. It is not like a regular office job in the city. You hear the planes taking off and landing all day long, which becomes like background music after a while. The quarters are simple and everything has its place. We spend a lot of time on the base, so we don't go into the main part of Hyderabad as much as some people might think. Our day starts early, usually before the sun is fully up and the air is still cool. There is a lot of walking between the different buildings and the academy grounds throughout the shift. It is a big place but you get to know everyone's face pretty quickly since we all live and work in the same area. The air is a bit clearer out here than in the middle of the city. We have our duties to handle, whether it is paperwork or maintenance, and we just get on with it. It is a disciplined life, but there is also a lot of downtime where we just sit around and talk about things. The address is just a set of numbers and letters to most people, but to us, it is home and work all rolled into one. We keep the place tidy and just do what needs doing every single day.
