Sultan Bazar is one of those places in Hyderabad that never seems to sleep. We are located at 4-3-72/1/10, inside the Amrat Atithi Gruh on KS Lane. It’s a bit of a maze back here, but once you find us near Royal Plaza, it’s pretty straightforward. We spend our mornings cutting vegetables and getting the rice started. The kitchen is small and gets really warm, but we have a couple of fans that help a bit. Most of the people who eat here are just looking for a simple meal that tastes like home. We don't have a big menu with fancy names. It’s just the same reliable food we’ve been making for years. The tables are basic and the chairs have been repaired more than once. We see a lot of travelers staying in the guest house above us. They come from all over, and sometimes we can't even understand each other, but a plate of food doesn't need much explaining. Koti is a crowded area, so there is always noise from the street coming through the windows. We don’t have a manager or a marketing person. It’s just us doing the cooking and the cleaning. We open the doors, serve the food, and close up when the pots are empty. It is a simple way to live and it keeps us busy from morning till night. Sometimes we just sit and talk about the old days in the market.
