Cooking

We are out in Village S. Lingotam, which is part of the Choutuppal Mandal in Nalgonda district. Our business is simply called Cooking, and that pretty much sums up what we do here every day. It’s a rural setting, so things move a bit slower than in the big cities like Hyderabad. The pin code here is 508252 and we are right in the heart of the village area. Being in Andhra Pradesh, specifically this part of Nalgonda, means we are surrounded by a lot of fields and open space. Our kitchen area is where all the action happens. It isn't a high-tech kitchen with stainless steel everywhere; it’s more of a traditional setup where we prepare food for the local folks. You can usually smell what we are making from a few houses away. We don't have a website or any big advertisements. People just know where we are in S. Lingotam and they come by when they need something. It’s hard work, especially when the heat hits in the summer, but we keep the stoves going regardless. Most of the people working here are from the village itself. We just focus on making the food right and making sure there is enough for everyone who asks. It’s a very basic and honest way to make a living in this part of the country. We don't have any fancy titles, just people who know their way around a stove and a large pot.
