Our office is tucked away in the Krishna Nagar Colony area of the Moulali Housing Board. You will find us at Plot No.177. It is a government building, so it looks like most of the others around here in Hyderabad. We handle the resettlement and rehabilitation work for the state. It involves a lot of paperwork and meeting people who are going through big changes in their lives. The desks are usually piled high with files and application forms. We have been working out of this H.No.3-5-222/4/1 address for quite some time. It's a quiet neighborhood mostly, which helps because the work can get stressful. People come in from all over to talk about their cases. We don't have fancy waiting rooms, just some basic benches and a water cooler that sometimes leaks a little on the tile floor. The fans hum all day long to keep the heat down. We try to explain the rules as clearly as we can, even when the laws are complicated. Some of us have been in this department for years. We know the residents around Moulali well by now. It isn't a fast-paced corporate office. It's a place where we sit down and look at maps and documents to figure things out for the people who come to see us. We keep the doors open during office hours and just keep at the work until the sun goes down and it is time to lock up and head home for the night.
