Bowl O' China

Our little place, Bowl O' China, is located at E-1806 in Rajajipuram. It is a modest shop tucked away in a residential block, so we mostly serve the people who live right around us. We don't have a giant neon sign or a big parking lot. It is just a small storefront where we have been cooking for several years now. The kitchen is the heart of the place, and you can usually hear the sound of the pans clanking and the stove hissing from the front counter. We have a few simple tables and chairs for anyone who wants to sit down and eat, but the space is quite small. Most of our customers prefer to take their food home in plastic containers. We keep the menu short so we can focus on the dishes we know how to make well. The walls are a plain color and we have a small television in the corner that is usually tuned to the news or a cricket match. We get our vegetables from the local market every morning, so things are as fresh as we can get them. Our staff is just a few local guys who know how to handle a wok. We don't spend money on fancy advertisements or shiny menus. We just hope that if someone likes the food, they will tell their friends. It is a simple life and a simple business, just cooking day in and day out.
