Bhavani Shankar

Bhavani Shankar is located over at 2-2-647/155 in the Central Excise Colony. This part of Bagh Ambrepet in Hyderabad is a place I know like the back of my hand. I’ve stayed here for years, and setting up my work here just felt right. It’s a residential area, so it’s usually pretty calm, except when the school nearby lets out and the streets get crowded for a bit. My office is just a part of the building where I’ve set up some desks and computers. We don't have any corporate branding or fancy documents on the walls. Mostly, the walls are just covered in calendars and notes I’ve scribbled to myself so I don’t forget important things. It is a bit cramped sometimes because we have a lot of files, but we make it work. Hyderabad is a big city, but in this colony, it feels like a small village sometimes. Everyone knows what everyone else is doing. I like that accountability. We don’t try to act like we are bigger than we are. If someone calls, they usually talk directly to me. There’s no waiting on hold or dealing with a computer voice. We just do the work as it comes in and try to stay organized. It’s not a glamorous life, but it’s a good one and it keeps us connected to the community here in 500013. We just keep our heads down and work.
