Talk about the industrial area in Uppal and it is a busy place with lots of dust and noise. We get here early before the sun gets too hot. The machines started running years ago and they haven’t stopped much since then. There are stacks of stuff everywhere. People walk by on their way to other factories nearby. Sometimes the power goes out and everything gets quiet for a bit, then it’s back to work. We don't have a big office or anything fancy, just a desk and some old chairs. It’s mostly about getting the daily tasks finished and making sure everything is loaded on the trucks properly. The workers here have been around for a long time. We know the tea stall guy around the corner pretty well by now. He brings us hot chai twice a day without us even asking. It’s not a glamorous life but it’s what we do. The floor is concrete and always has some scuffs on it from the heavy lifting. We keep our tools in the same spot so we don't lose them in the middle of a shift. If someone comes by asking for us, they usually just find us in the back shed. The address says Ida Uppal, and that’s exactly where you’ll find us, right in the middle of all the other industrial sheds. It’s a lot of manual work and sweating, especially in the summer months. We just keep our heads down.
