A B I Bricks

We are located in Adibatla village, which has changed a lot since the Tata Consultancy Services building went up nearby. It’s a funny mix of high-tech offices and our old-fashioned brick yard here in Rangareddy. A B I Bricks is a place where we still do things by hand mostly. You can see the dust and the stacks of bricks right from the road. The crew starts at dawn, and we keep going until the light fades. It gets very hot out here on the open ground. We mostly just focus on getting the right mix of earth and water. It’s a basic business, but people need bricks for their homes and walls. We see the commuters driving past to their office jobs while we are out in the dirt. Sometimes the contrast is a bit strange. We’ve been in this part of the district for quite some time now. The soil here is good for what we do. We don’t spend much time in an office; most of the work happens right out in the field. There is always a lot of noise from the machinery and the trucks. We just try to keep things moving and make sure the deliveries go out on time. It’s a tough way to make a living, but there is something satisfying about seeing a fresh pile of bricks ready for a new building. It keeps us busy and out of trouble, I suppose.
