One or two old computers are used to look up flights and print out tickets. It gets really warm in the afternoons, so a small fan usually stays blowing while the work gets done. There is always the sound of the mosque nearby and the general hum of the market outside. Stacks of old travel brochures and passports sit waiting to be processed. It is not a shiny travel agency like the ones in the malls; it is just a local spot where people from the neighborhood come to get their travel sorted out. A lot of Irani chai is consumed because there’s a shop just a few doors down. Sometimes the power goes out for an hour or two, so we just sit and wait or talk to whoever is passing by. It’s a simple way of doing business and the office has been in Yakutpura for a long time now. We just do our bit and help people get where they need to go. It is a small business but it keeps everyone busy.
