The Fairmont

Our workspace is located along the busy Sheikh Zayed Road in Dubai, though we mostly use the P.O. Box 97555 for our mail. Even though this is a very famous and busy area with huge skyscrapers everywhere, our daily life in the office is actually pretty ordinary. We handle all the administrative work for the resort from here. It involves a lot of sitting at desks, checking emails, and making sure the bookings are all in order. We are not always in the fancy, polished areas of the hotel. A lot of our time is spent in these back offices where the walls are plain and the lighting is just standard. We have a small corner where we keep a kettle for making coffee and tea. We often talk about our families or what we are doing for dinner while we work. When the wind picks up, a bit of sand always seems to find its way inside through the door, so we have to sweep the floor quite often. It is a massive operation to keep track of, but we try to keep things simple between the staff here. We have our own way of organizing the files that probably only makes sense to us. We deal with whatever problems come up, like a computer glitch or a missing delivery, and just keep moving forward. It is a lot of hard work behind the scenes to keep the resort going.
