Simplex Infrastructures Limited has a base out here at House Number 6-68 in Vajrakarur. This is a bit of a distance out in the Anantapur District, and it’s a very rural, open area compared to the big cities. Working out of this post means dealing with a lot of heat and wind, as Anantapur is known for being one of the drier parts of Andhra Pradesh. We spend our days coordinating projects and making sure the equipment and materials are where they need to be. The office is really just a practical hub for us, with a lot of maps, schedules, and logbooks lying around. It is not the kind of place where you’ll find plush carpets or air conditioning that works perfectly all the time. We are usually more worried about the state of the roads or if the local suppliers are going to make it on time with our deliveries. Most of the staff are people who are used to working in tough conditions and don’t mind the grit and grime that comes with infrastructure work. We eat our lunch together and talk about the progress on the various sites. It is a long day usually, starting early before the sun gets too high and finishing up when it’s getting dark. It’s hard work, but it’s what we do here in Vajrakarur, and we’ve been at it for a long time. There is no glamour to it, just keeping things moving on the ground level.
