About Eco-Tourism Manager – Tourism in Hyderabad/ Secunderabad
This whole thing is run out of H.No.4-34-50 in Venkateswara Nagar. We are based at V. Lavanya’s place in Jaghat Giri Gutta, which is a bit of a climb if you’re walking. Hyderabad -37 is the postal area. Dealing with eco-tourism from a house means there’s always something happening in the living room or at the small desk in the corner. We spend a lot of time talking about nature and how to get people out to see the greener parts of the country without making a mess of things. It started small and it’s stayed pretty small, which is how we like it. The neighborhood here is mostly residential, so it's quiet enough to think. We have maps spread out on the dining table most days. Managing trips involves a lot of phone calls to forest guards and local guides in different states. Sometimes the internet is slow, so we have to wait around to send emails. We don't have a big staff or a fancy office building with a sign out front. It’s just us working through the logistics of travel and outdoor stuff. People think tourism is all fun, but there’s a lot of boring paperwork and permit filing involved. We just try to keep things moving along so the trips actually happen. It’s a lot of coordination and making sure everyone knows where they are supposed to be. It keeps us on our toes and the days go by pretty fast.
