Biryani Darbar. C/Op.Das Ryhtupeta, Nandigama, Krishna. You can find Biryani Darbar in Ryhtupeta, which is over in Nandigama in the Krishna district. We’ve been set up here for a good while now under the care of P. Das. It’s a local spot where we mostly focus on getting the food ready for the people who live around here or are just passing through. The kitchen is where most of the action happens. It’s hot and loud, but that’s just how it is when you’re cooking all day. We don't have a fancy dining room with air conditioning or anything like that. It’s a simple place with tables and chairs where you can get a quick meal. We start early in the morning, getting the spices ready and the rice started. There’s a lot of prep work that goes into it, and sometimes we run out of things before the day is even over. We don't spend money on ads or flyers. People just know we are here because of the smell of the food or because they’ve been coming here for years. It’s a small operation and we don’t have a lot of staff. Everyone has to chip in and do a bit of everything, from serving to cleaning up. We aren't trying to be the most famous place in the world. We just want to make food that people enjoy eating. It’s hard work, especially when the weather is hot, but we keep at it because it’s what we know how to do.
