Asst Restaurantmanager

This is about the work B.Prathap Reddy does over at the Royal Hostel in Yellareddygudam. It’s located in Ameerpet, Hyderabad. The role is Assistant Restaurant Manager. It’s a hands-on kind of job. Being in a hostel environment means there is always something going on. People are coming and going at all hours. The kitchen is the heart of the place. We have to make sure the food is ready and the staff knows what they are doing. It’s not like a five-star hotel. It’s a hostel, so things are more casual but also more chaotic. We deal with suppliers, check the inventory, and make sure the dining area isn't a mess. Ameerpet is a very busy area with lots of students and workers, so the hostel stays pretty full. We don't have a big corporate office. The office is often just a corner of the dining room or a small desk near the kitchen. We spend most of the day on our feet. Sometimes the stove breaks or a shipment of rice doesn't show up, and we have to scramble. It’s real work with real people. We don't have time for fancy titles or long meetings. We just want to make sure everyone gets fed and the place keeps running smoothly day after day. It gets loud and hot in the kitchen, but we keep things moving because people are hungry. We've been at it for a while now and we know exactly how much food to prep for the crowd we get every day.
