Karan Foods

If you walk down Salkia School Road in Howrah, you’ll find us at number 88. Karan Foods is tucked away near the Naya Mandir, which is always a busy spot with people coming to pray. The street out front is usually packed with rickshaws and people walking to the school nearby. It gets very loud during the morning drop-off times. Our building is old and has a lot of character, though the stairs are a bit steep and narrow. We’ve been working out of this location for a while now. The smell of the neighborhood is a mix of street food and the temple incense. We don't have a lot of space, so every corner is filled with something. It’s a bit chaotic at times, especially when we have several things going on at once. We don’t use any fancy systems, just notebooks and memory mostly. Sometimes the rain floods the street a little, and we have to put out sandbags, but that’s just life in Howrah. The workers from the nearby shops often stop by to chat. It feels very connected to the local community here. We aren’t trying to be anything we aren't. We just show up every day at our Salkia School Road address and do the work that needs to be done. It’s a busy, cramped, and noisy place, but it’s where we belong.
