Khatta Mitha

This is Khatta Mitha, located at 268/2 on G T Road in Liluah. If you know Howrah, you know how busy G T Road can get. There’s always trucks and buses going by, so it gets quite loud outside our door. We’ve been here for a bit now, just running our small restaurant. The 711204 area is quite industrial and busy. We don’t have any big corporate backing or anything. It’s just a family-run kind of thing, or at least it feels like that with how we work. We spend our mornings getting the supplies in and making sure everything is ready for the lunch rush. The shop isn't very large, so things can get a bit cramped when it's full. We try to keep the tables wiped down as fast as we can. It’s a lot of work keeping up with the pace of G T Road. We don’t have any fancy menus or expensive furniture. It’s all very basic and practical for the people who work and live around Liluah. We just want to make sure people have a place to sit for a minute and eat. Sometimes the power goes out or the water is slow, but we deal with it as it comes. It’s just how things are here. We show up every morning and do our best to keep things moving along. It is not always easy, but we have been doing this for a while now and we are used to the noise.
