Our small office is located in the village of Andhar Manik Bharat, which is under the Basudebkhali post office in Berhampore. It is a quiet corner of Murshidabad, and most of us here have been farming since we were children. We formed this group because it felt like the right way to manage our crops and help each other out. Dealing with the markets alone is usually a big headache, so we do it together now. We mostly focus on what grows best in this specific climate near the 742187 area. There is a lot of talking that goes on in our meetings—sometimes way too much—but we eventually get things sorted out. We grow different things depending on the time of year, and we are always keeping an eye on the sky for any sign of rain. Life in the village is simple but very busy. We do not use a lot of big words or have any fancy marketing materials. We just know how to till the earth and harvest what comes up. Sometimes the harvest is great, and sometimes it is a bit of a struggle. That is just the way it goes for us. We help each other with transport and finding the right seeds. If you come by Berhampore and head toward Andhar Manik, you will find us easily enough. We are just local people trying to keep our traditions going while making sure we can provide for our homes. It is manual work and long days.
