Hooghly Layer Farm Private Limited

Our farm is right there in the village of Barodongal, which is in the Hooghly district. If you ask anyone around here for Manoranjan Pore’s place, they can usually point you in the right direction. We are a layer farm, so our whole world revolves around the birds and the eggs they produce. It is a rural life, and the sounds of the chickens are pretty much the background music to our entire day. The village is quiet, but the farm itself is always busy. There is always someone cleaning, feeding, or collecting eggs. We don't have a fancy corporate office with air conditioning. We have a simple room where we keep our records and talk to the guys who come to pick up the crates. The air in Barodongal is fresh, though it does smell like a farm, which we are used to by now. It is a lot of physical labor, and your hands never really stay clean for long. We’ve been part of this community for a while, and we hire people from the nearby houses to help out. It is a straightforward business without any of the big city fluff. We deal with the weather, the health of the birds, and the market prices just like any other farm. It’s a lot of responsibility, but seeing the trucks leave with fresh eggs makes the long hours feel like they are worth something in the end.
