We are Goghat-Ii Farmers Producer Company Limited. Our home base is at Bhakar Mondal’s place in Kamal Chak, Singrapur. It’s a quiet area, and most of us who work here are also out in the fields most of the time. This company is a way for us local farmers to get organized. We aren't some big outfit with a lot of money. We are just people from around Goghat who want to make sure we can sell our crops for a fair price. We deal with all sorts of things like seeds and equipment. The office at Kamal Chak is where we keep all the records and have our meetings. It’s usually a bit of a mess with ledgers and bags of samples, but we know where everything is. We do not have any polished marketing slogans or missions. We just want to keep our farms going and help each other out when things get tough. Sometimes the weather doesn't cooperate, or the prices in the market drop, and that’s when being part of a group really helps. We talk like regular people because that’s what we are. There’s no need for corporate talk when you’re discussing soil quality or irrigation systems. We’ve been working together in Singrapur for a while now, and it feels right to have this formal company. It’s about the work and the community we live in. We just take it day by day and try to do our best for the members.
