Oryza Rice Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out of a little spot in Hari Nagar Nill, Narwana. Specifically at Gali No 2, house 1392, which is Kanta’s place. We’re a group of rice farmers who decided to team up. Rice needs a lot of water and even more attention. We spend a lot of time checking the levels in the paddies. It’s messy work, and your back usually hurts by the end of the day. We don’t have a big office with air conditioning. We just meet up where we can and talk about the crop. It’s easier to handle the selling and the seeds when we do it together. Most of us have been doing this since we were old enough to walk. We’ve seen the market go up and down, so we don't get too excited about anything. We just keep our heads down. If you come by, you’ll probably see some muddy boots and a few tractors parked nearby. It’s a practical operation. We aren't trying to impress anyone with big words. We just want to grow good rice and make sure our families are taken care of. It’s been a tough few years with the weather being so unpredictable, but we stick together. That’s the only way to survive out here. We just keep going.
