Down on Barnala Road in Shakti Nagar, you’ll find New Satluj High School. It’s been part of Sirsa for a while now. We aren't a huge institution, just a local high school where everyone mostly knows everyone else’s name. The morning assembly is usually the loudest part of our day, with all the students lined up in the courtyard. We have some classrooms that get a lot of sunlight, which is nice in the winter but a bit much in May. Most of the staff live nearby, so we walk or bike to work. It’s a simple setup. We have a playground that’s seen better days, but the kids still love running around on it during lunch. You’ll often see parents stopping by the office to check on things or pay fees. We try to keep the place tidy, though with hundreds of kids, there’s always a bit of dust or a stray piece of paper somewhere. Sirsa can be a busy town, but once you step inside our gates, it feels a bit more contained. We don't have a lot of fancy tech or polished glass walls. It’s just bricks, benches, and blackboards. We spend our days making sure the kids stay on track with their studies. It’s honest work and keeps us all pretty busy from Monday to Saturday. Sometimes the bell rings a minute late, but nobody really complains. We just carry on with the lessons as we always have.
