Mattershyam Farmer Producer Company Limited is based out here in the Hisar district. We are specifically located at VPO Dhani Siswal, house 174. It’s a quiet place, mostly just fields as far as you can see. We decided to get organized because the way we were doing things before just wasn't cutting it anymore. Now, we work together on things like buying fertilizer or finding better ways to transport our crops. It’s a community effort. You’ll usually find a few of us sitting around at the house in Dhani Siswal talking about the latest water situation or how the wheat is looking. We don't have a big fancy office with air conditioning. It’s just a room with some chairs and a desk where we keep our records. We are all farmers first. The company part is just something we do to make the farming part a little more sustainable. We’ve had some tough years with the weather, but being in this group helps us share the load. It’s not about getting rich; it’s about making sure we can keep our land and look after our families. We keep things simple and try to be honest with each other about what’s working and what isn't. It’s just how we do things in this part of Hisar. We aren't experts but we learn something new every season we go through.
