Omveer Singh Producer Company Limited is what we call our group here in Hathras. We operate out of Saudan Singh’s house in Gubrarijatoi. You probably know the area if you’re from around here, it's pretty quiet mostly. We started this because we were tired of being the last ones to find out about market prices. Being a farmer is tough enough without the extra stress of not knowing where to sell your stuff. Saudan Singh helped get everyone together so we could have a bit more say in things. It isn't a corporate setup with suits and ties, thank goodness. Most days we are just covered in dust and trying to figure out if the water pump is going to hold up for another season. We deal with all sorts of crops, whatever the season brings. It’s just everyday people trying to make a living. Sometimes we get things wrong, but since we are all neighbors, we just talk it out and try again. There’s no big secret to what we do. It’s just about making sure that when we work the land, we actually have something to show for it at the end of the day.
