We spend a lot of time here at the shop in Sikanderpur Goshi, mostly just making sure the coffee is hot and the milk is frothy. It gets really busy in the mornings when people are heading to work in Gurgaon. Sometimes the machines act up or we run out of napkins, but we just handle it. We’ve been at this address in Nehar Niketan for a while now. The staff mostly lives nearby, so we know the shortcuts and which days the traffic is going to be a mess. It’s a bit of a small space but it smells good all day because of the beans. We don’t really do fancy speeches, we just show up, turn on the lights, and start grinding the beans. On hot Haryana days, the air conditioner is our best friend, though it makes a bit of a humming noise that we’ve gotten used to. Most of our regulars don’t even have to say what they want anymore. We see them coming and just start their order. It’s not a quiet place, especially when the grinder is going and people are talking, but it feels right. We keep the tables wiped down and try to stay on top of the trash. It’s just a normal day-to-day thing here. We like the neighborhood, even if it gets a bit dusty outside. Life is basically just one cup at a time until we close up and head home for the night.
