Arman Battery

Jhilmil Industrial Area is where we spend our lives. Specifically at A 21/27. It’s an area full of factories and workshops, so it’s never really quiet. At Arman Battery, we deal with heavy stuff. Most of our day is spent moving lead-acid batteries around or checking the water levels in them. It’s hard work on the back, and your clothes usually end up with some kind of mark on them by noon. The floor is concrete and always has some grease or dust on it. We have a small area where we charge up the batteries, and you can always hear that low hum of the machines running. We get a lot of truck drivers and rickshaw guys coming in because their batteries died in the middle of a shift. They’re usually in a rush to get back on the road. We do our best to help them out without too much fuss. There’s no fancy waiting room here, just a couple of plastic stools and a water cooler in the corner. Sometimes we sit outside for five minutes to get some fresh air away from the smell of the shop. It’s a basic business. We’ve been in Jhilmil for a while now and most of the other shop owners nearby are our friends. We share tea in the afternoons and talk about how the business is going. It’s just a normal, hardworking day for us.
