Our little office for Tirupati Tours & Travels is right in the middle of the Sector 31 Housing Board Market at number 8. It’s a busy little corner of the world. Every morning, we open up the shutters and start taking calls from people who need a car to get to the airport or a van for a family trip. The market gets quite crowded in the evenings, so there’s always noise from the street coming inside. We’ve got a couple of old desks and some chairs for people to sit on while we figure out their routes. It isn’t a polished corporate office by any means. There are maps pinned to the walls and stacks of papers everywhere. Sometimes the tea guy comes by and we take a break, but usually, someone is on the phone. We’ve lived and worked around this part of town for a long time, so we know the shortcuts and the bad roads to avoid. Most of our drivers are from nearby too. We don't spend money on big ads or fancy signs. People just know where we are because we’ve been here in the market for so long. It’s a simple way of working. We just try to keep the cars running and make sure the bookings don't get mixed up. It gets a bit hectic during the wedding season, but we manage somehow to keep things moving.
