Our school is located out in Bhimavaripalem, which is a quiet part of the Bapatla area. If you drive down the main road, you can’t miss the building. It has been standing here for a good while now. Every morning, the gates open early as the local kids start arriving, some on foot and others on the yellow buses that navigate the narrow lanes around here. The weather in Bapatla gets quite hot, so we rely on the ceiling fans to keep the air moving in the classrooms. Ravindra Bharati School isn't a flashy place, but it is where the local families send their children to get through their daily lessons. You can usually find the teachers sitting in the small office during their breaks, marking papers or just having a quick tea. The playground has seen better days, but the kids don't seem to mind when they are out there running around during recess. We have a lot of trees around the perimeter which helps with the shade. Parents often stop by the front gate to have a quick chat with the watchman or to drop off a forgotten lunch box. It is a simple routine that repeats every day from Monday to Saturday. Most of our staff live nearby, so everyone knows everyone else’s business. It feels more like a small community than a big institution.
