Broughton English Medium School

Broughton English Medium School sits right opposite the Muppala Police Station on Narasaraopet Road. It is a very busy part of town with a lot of traffic passing by all day. You can hear the sounds of horns and bikes from the classrooms, but the children are used to it by now. The school building is painted a bright color so it is easy to spot from the road. Inside, there is a small area where the kids play during their breaks. We have a few teachers who have been here since the start. They use blackboards and chalk, and the rooms stay fairly cool because of the high ceilings. Usually, the parents wait outside the gate under the big tree when school ends at four. It is a local school for local families in Narasaraopet. We don’t have a big fancy office, just a small desk near the entrance where people come to ask questions. Sometimes we have to deal with the dust from the road, so we clean the floors twice a day. The kids bring their own water bottles and steel lunch boxes from home. On Saturdays, we have shorter hours and things are a bit more relaxed. It is a practical place where learning happens in a simple way. Being near the police station makes the area feel safe, which is a good thing for everyone. We just keep doing our work every day and helping the neighborhood kids.
