City Public School is over in Old Guntur, on Chattivari Street. If you know that part of town, you know the streets are narrow and have a lot of history to them. We’ve been here for a long time, and some of the parents who bring their kids here used to be students here themselves. It’s a real community school in that sense. The building has seen a lot of years, and we are constantly touching up the paint or fixing a door that won't shut right. It’s not one of those new schools with air conditioning and glass walls. We rely on the windows being open and the fans going. Guntur can get incredibly hot, so the afternoons can be a bit of a struggle for everyone. We just keep going, though. The sound of the neighborhood is always coming in from the street—vendors selling things, people talking, and the general hum of Old Guntur. It’s a bit messy at times, and we don't always have everything perfectly organized, but the work gets done. We don't put out big advertisements or try to look like something we aren't. We are just a local school on a busy street where kids come to learn their basics. It’s been our life for years, and we’re quite comfortable with how things are. The morning assembly is a bit loud but that's fine. We like the noise. It makes the place feel alive even when the heat is tough.
