Jai Mahakaleshwar Kisan Producer Company Limited is based in the Surekha Puram Colony in Bathua. We are at Vishnu Singh’s place, which is where all the daily decisions get made. Bathua is a growing area, but it still feels like a small community where everyone is connected. We handle all the producer company work from a room here at the back. It’s filled with maps of the local plots and calendars marked with harvest dates for the different crops. Vishnu is usually around to help out with the management, and we have a couple of guys who handle the heavy lifting when shipments arrive. We don’t have any fancy marketing or brochures because we don’t really need them. The local farmers know exactly where we are when they have something to sell or need some practical advice on the current season. We spend our days drinking tea and making sure the numbers in our books match the reality of what’s happening in the fields. It can get a bit loud and crowded when everyone is visiting at once, but we enjoy the company and the talk. We just do our best to keep things moving along without too much fuss or trouble. It’s a straightforward way to live and work. We don't plan too far ahead, just far enough to make sure the next crop is taken care of and the people are happy.
