Badokhar Mahila Farmer Producer Company Limited

Our group is based in Badokhar Khurand, near Palhari. We are a bunch of women from the local area who decided to start this company together. Dinesh Kumar helps us out with the space and some of the logistics. It’s mostly about the women in our village getting a bit more control over what we grow and how we sell it. We don't have a fancy office building. We usually meet up at a house or in a shared storage space. There’s always a lot of talking and sometimes kids running around while we work. Farming is hard, especially when you’re also looking after a household, but we find a way to make it work. We deal with whatever is in season, from grains to pulses. We don't use any slick marketing talk because that's not who we are. We are just mothers and sisters from Badokhar trying to do something for our community. Sometimes the crops fail or the prices drop, and we just have to deal with it together. It’s about being practical and helping each other out. If you walk through Palhari and ask for the mahila group, someone will show you the way. We aren't polished or corporate, just hardworking people trying to get by. We don't have big budgets, but we have a lot of heart for our land.
