Royal Dhaba

If you are driving on the Gulbarga to Humnabad Road, you’ll find Royal Dhaba. We are right beside the Gurudatta Petrol Lines in Kamalapur. It’s a good spot because people are always stopping for fuel anyway. Being on N.H.218 means we see a lot of trucks and travelers all day and night. It’s a dusty job sometimes, with all the vehicles passing by on the highway. We’ve got a basic setup here. There are tables and benches and a kitchen that stays busy. We don't have a printed menu that never changes. We just cook what we have. It’s mostly just me and a couple of guys from the village running the show. We don't use fancy words to describe what we do. It’s a dhaba, so it’s loud, hot, and there’s always something cooking. We spend a lot of time cleaning up after the lunch rush. The petrol pump next door is a busy place, so there’s always noise from the engines. We don't have air conditioning or anything like that. We just have the breeze from the road. Some people stay for a long time to rest, others just grab a quick bite and head back out on the highway. We’ve been here for a good few years now and we know the truck drivers who pass through every week.
