If you head down Humnabad Road toward the Gunj Bus Stand in Kalaburagi, you will see us at number 855. It is a very noisy part of town because of all the buses and people constantly moving around. We have gotten used to the sound over the years though. This shop has been part of the local neighborhood for a long while now. We mainly focus on selling cement. It is a messy kind of business, and our clothes usually turn a bit gray by the time we close up. We tend to start our work early, mostly to beat the worst of the heat. Kalaburagi gets incredibly hot in the summer, so getting the heavy lifting done early makes sense. People coming from the bus stand often stop in to ask for directions or just to sit for a minute while they wait. We have some old wooden benches outside that get used a lot. Dealing with cement means you always have to check the bags for any signs of dampness. It is a real struggle when the monsoon season hits us. Our storage space is not huge, but we make it work by stacking things high toward the ceiling. We know most of the local building contractors by their first names now. They come in and complain about things, then we load up their trucks. It is a routine we have followed for years.
