Talaganj Agro Farmer Producer Company Limited

We run our company out of Shiv Bahal’s place in Talaganj Charu. It’s a quiet area where most people make their living from the land. A few of us farmers got together to form this group so we could handle our agro business a bit better. We aren't experts in marketing or anything like that. We just know how to grow things and how to look after the soil. Most of our days start before the sun is even up. We spend our time checking the crops and making sure the irrigation is working like it should. When we need to do the business side of things, we meet up at the house in Talaganj. It’s where we keep the books and record what everyone has brought in. It’s a very informal environment. Someone usually brings tea and we just sit and talk through the problems we’re facing. Maybe a tractor is down or we’re worried about the price of grain. Being a producer company lets us handle the selling as a single unit, which is much better than trying to do it alone. It’s been a learning process for all of us, especially with the government forms and the rules. But we manage. We aren’t looking for any awards. We just want to make sure our families are taken care of and that the farming stays viable in this village. It’s just us, working hard and hoping for a good harvest every year, no matter what happens with the weather or the markets.
