Asafal Bio-Energy Farmer Producer Company Limited is run out of a house in Gonda. We are at house number one in Andhary, near Brij Nath Manucha. Asarfi Lal Mishra is the one who lives here and lets us use the space. It’s a quiet spot, mostly surrounded by fields and other houses. We aren't a big company with many branches. We just have this one room where we gather to talk about bio-energy and how it fits with our local farms. Most of the people who come by are our neighbors or farmers from the nearby villages. We spend our mornings looking over records and the afternoons talking to people about their crops. It’s a very manual process. We don't have any fancy software to do the work for us. We write things down and keep our files in some old cabinets. The heat in Gonda can be really tough in May and June, so we usually start very early in the morning to beat the sun. It’s just a simple way of working. We aren't trying to be the biggest company in the district. We just want to work well with the people who know us here in Andhary. Sometimes we make mistakes with the filing, but we always get it sorted. We just take things as they come and try to stay helpful to the farmers who stop in. It is just a matter of showing up and being honest.
