Om Prakash & Sons

Om Prakash & Sons has been at No. 57 in Navyug Market for as long as I can remember. My father, Om Prakash, started this whole thing, and now we’re the ones keeping the doors open every morning. The market is always buzzing with people, and our shop is right in the thick of it. We don't have a flashy showroom; it’s mostly just shelves filled with hardware and different steel parts. The wooden counter is worn smooth from years of people leaning on it while they talk to us. We know most of the people who walk in by name, and if we don't, we probably know their fathers. It’s that kind of place. We spend a lot of time counting out bolts or measuring lengths of wire for customers. Sometimes the kids are running around the back while we work. It’s a family thing, and it can get a bit chaotic when we’re busy, but we manage. We aren't into big advertising or anything like that. People find us because we’ve been here forever. The ceiling is high, but the light isn't great, so we rely on the big open door for most of our sunshine. We close up when the market starts to quiet down, usually around eight, and then we do it all over again the next day. It’s a simple, steady life, and we’re happy to be part of the Navyug community. We might look a bit disorganized, but we know our stock.
