We have been at Shop No. 7 and 8 on B.L. Road for a long time now. Loha Mandi is always loud with trucks and people moving heavy metal around all day. Our space is usually filled with steel rods and plates stacked up against the walls. It gets pretty dusty inside, especially when the wind blows through the market area. Most days start early because that is when the big deliveries arrive from the suppliers. We spend a lot of our time checking the sizes and making sure the piece counts are right for whoever is coming to pick them up. It is not a fancy office or anything like that. There is just a small desk and a few plastic chairs for when people come by to talk about what they need for their house or building projects. Sometimes the traffic on B.L. Road makes it real hard to get the lorries in, but we usually manage to find a way. My father started this business and now we just keep it going. It is hard physical work, lifting and moving stuff, but we like being part of the market here. Everyone knows us in this specific lane. If someone needs a certain type of steel, they usually just walk over and ask. We do not have a big team, just a few of us who know the inventory well. We try to keep things organized but with steel, it is always a bit of a mess.
