Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1

Kendriya Vidyalaya No 1 is found at the R.M. Building on Bageshwari Road. It is a busy spot, and you can always hear the sounds of the road coming through the windows. The school takes up a good portion of the building, and we have many rooms dedicated to different subjects. Every morning, the climb up the stairs starts as the students arrive. We do not have an elevator, so everyone gets their exercise in. The hallways are usually filled with the sound of shuffling feet and chatter between classes. Our teachers are local people who have been working here for quite some time. They know the R.M. Building inside and out. The office is often a bit cluttered with stacks of files and books, but we know where everything is. We do not try to make the place look like a corporate office. It is a school, so it looks like one—a bit lived-in and very functional. During the rainy season, Bageshwari Road can get a bit messy, but the kids always find a way to get to their desks. We focus on the daily lessons and making sure the exams happen on time. There is no hidden agenda or fancy mission statement posted on the walls. We just come here to work and help the students learn what they need to know. By the end of the day, we are all a bit tired, but it is a good kind of tired that comes from a full day.
