We opened this place to give the kids around here a spot to learn without having to travel too far into the main town. The mornings are usually the busiest time because everyone arrives at once. We have a playground that is mostly dirt, but the kids don't seem to mind when they are playing football or running around. Inside, the rooms are plain with white walls and rows of desks. We try to keep things organized, though with so many students, it can get a bit messy by lunchtime. The teachers here live in the surrounding area, so they understand the local way of life. We don't use any complicated systems, just old-fashioned teaching with chalk and paper. Sometimes the rain makes the roads to Amba a bit difficult, but the students still show up. It’s a quiet life for the most part, except when the bell rings for the end of the day. We aren't trying to be anything other than a neighborhood school. People know us, and we know them. That is how it has been since we started. We just keep the doors open for the local families.
