Wisdom Public School is tucked away in Nutan Nagar, over in the Sherghati area of Gaya. If you know Sherghati, you know it can get really busy during the day. Our school is just a regular spot where kids from the nearby streets come to study. We don’t have those huge manicured lawns you see in magazines, just a decent space where the children can play during their break. Gaya gets incredibly hot during the summer months, so we spend a lot of time making sure the ceiling fans are working and that there is enough water for everyone. It’s a plain building, nothing fancy to look at from the outside, but we keep it tidy. I spend most of my day sitting in the small office near the entrance, talking to parents who come in to check on their children's progress. Most of them are our neighbors. We’ve had the same wooden benches for years, and they’ve been scrubbed so many times they’re starting to look a bit worn, but they still do the job. We don’t do big marketing or put up giant billboards. Word just spreads around Nutan Nagar that we are here. It’s a simple life running a school in a place like this. We have our good days and our stressful days, especially when the exams are coming up, but we just take it one step at a time and keep things moving for the kids and their families.
