Ba Shri Vasantkunvarba N Solanki Mogar Kanya Vidyalaya

You can find us over in Sector 28 of Gandhinagar. It’s a fairly quiet part of the city compared to the main hubs, which is nice for a girls' school. The name is quite a mouthful, we know, but everyone around here just calls it the Mogar Kanya Vidyalaya. We’ve been operating out of this building for years. The classrooms have high ceilings and the hallways get a bit loud during the breaks when the girls are running around. We don’t go in for anything too flashy. The walls might need a fresh coat of paint here and there, but the place serves its purpose. On most mornings, you’ll see the cycles lined up outside and parents dropping their daughters off before heading to work in the government offices. We spend our days going through the lessons and making sure the girls are actually paying attention. It’s a lot of paperwork and basic teaching, nothing like what you see in movies. In the afternoons, the sun hits the front of the school and it gets pretty warm. We keep the fans going and just get on with the day’s tasks. There’s a sense of rhythm to the week here. We aren't trying to change the world overnight, just giving the local girls a place to sit, learn, and talk to each other. It’s a steady job for us and a steady place for them. Most of us have worked here for a long time.
