Down in Village Fatehpur, near Grantherbetpur in the Vikasnagar area, you’ll find Himkisan Kesari Agro Producer Company Limited. We operate out of Basant Lal’s place. It’s a busy spot, especially during the harvest times when everyone is bringing in their produce. Vikasnagar is a bit different from the higher hills, the land is flatter and the heat can get quite intense in the middle of summer. We spend most of our time out in the fields or sitting under the shade at the village spot talking about seeds and water. It’s a group effort, really. Basant Lal has been around a long time, so everyone knows where to go when they have a question about the agro work. We don’t really do much in the way of big meetings or anything like that, it’s more about the day-to-day tasks of keeping the farm work moving. Sometimes the rain messes up our plans, or the transport doesn't show up on time, but that’s just how life is here in the village. We focus on what’s right in front of us. The name Himkisan reflects who we are, just farmers trying to get a fair deal for what we grow. It’s quiet work, mostly, but it keeps us busy from sunrise until it gets too dark to see the rows. We like the way things are going so far in Fatehpur and we plan to keep at it.
