Shemrock Shining Stars

The school is over at 5, E/47 in the Nit area of Faridabad. It’s a typical neighborhood school for the little ones. Every morning, we open up the gates and wait for the vans and cars to start arriving with the kids. Shemrock Shining Stars is just a place where the children spend their day while their parents are busy at their jobs. We have the classrooms decorated with drawings the kids made themselves, though some are starting to curl at the edges or fade a bit. It feels lived-in and comfortable. The staff here mostly lives nearby in Faridabad, so we all know the local shortcuts and which shops have the best tea and snacks. During the day, you’ll hear us trying to get everyone to sit still for a story or helping them wash their hands before lunch starts. It’s not always perfectly quiet or organized, but that is just the nature of working with small children in a school setting. We have some outdoor space where they can run around for a bit, and we try to keep the plants alive despite the heavy Faridabad heat. Mostly, our time is spent making sure nobody gets a scraped knee and that everyone learns their numbers and letters. The building itself is easy to find once you are in the Nit area. We just go about our business, teaching and playing until the parents come back in the late afternoon. It’s a steady, normal life for all of us here.
