Murugan Textiles

You can find Murugan Textiles over at 28, Kannaki Street. It’s a relatively quiet street compared to the big commercial boulevards, which is something we actually like. The building is a simple one, with a small entrance that leads right into the heart of the shop. We don’t have a big marketing team or anything like that; it’s just us here, taking care of the day-to-day tasks. The sign outside has been there for years and the paint is starting to peel a little at the edges, but everyone in the neighborhood knows who we are. Inside, the floor is tiled and we try to keep it swept, though thread and scraps always seem to find their way into the corners. We have a few wooden chairs for visitors to sit on, though they aren't the most comfortable things in the world. The lighting is bright so we can see the details of our work clearly. We start our mornings by opening the doors and letting the fresh air in before the sun gets too high. Most of our day is spent handling the stock and talking to the people who drop by. It’s a very local feel here at number 28. We know the postman and the guy who sells fruit on the corner. It’s a steady, predictable life on Kannaki Street, and we wouldn’t have it any other way.
