Our place is situated way out in Poonachin Village, which is part of the Anthiyur Taluk area. If you are coming from the main town, it takes a bit of time because the roads aren't always in the best shape. We are surrounded by a lot of greenery and farmland, which makes sense for the kind of work we do with starch. The air is usually a bit cleaner out here, though it gets quite hot in the afternoons when the sun is high. Our building is a bit older and has that functional look to it. We don't have any big signs or flashy lights to show where we are. Most of the people working here are from the nearby villages and have been with us for a long time. We know each other's families and what’s going on in the local area. It’s not like those big city offices where nobody knows your name. Here, we just get on with the day. We spend a lot of time checking the raw materials that come in from the fields. Sometimes the machinery is loud and makes it hard to hear anything else, but we are used to it by now. During the monsoon, things slow down a bit because the mud makes travel difficult. We just take things as they come and don't try to rush what can't be rushed. It’s a quiet, steady life in Poonachin and we just keep at it.
