Wood Pecker

You can find us at Toll Junction in Edapally. It’s a noisy place with all the vehicles heading towards the city or out to the highway. Wood Pecker has been around this corner for a while now. The building is an old one, No. 25/72B, and it gets a bit damp when the monsoon hits Kochi. We deal with a lot of different types of timber that come in from the yards. Sometimes the wood is good, sometimes it takes more work to get it right. We don't spend money on advertising or fancy signs. Most people just know we are here because they drive past us every day on their way to work. Inside, it’s mostly stacks of wood and some half-finished pieces waiting for polish or a final sanding. My cousin helps out with the heavy lifting because some of those planks are really something else to move. We don’t have a website or anything like that, we just talk to whoever walks through the door. Sometimes people want a full wardrobe and other times they just need a small piece of wood for a DIY project at home. We try to help out either way. The traffic outside never seems to stop, but inside we just focus on the smell of the wood and getting the measurements right before we start cutting anything. It is just a regular place to get some wood work done in Edapally.
