A K Habeeb & Sons

Jew Street is a special place to work, and A K Habeeb & Sons has been part of it for a long while. The street is narrow and full of history, which means we get all sorts of people walking past our doors. Tourists, locals, and everyone in between pass by every day. Our shop isn't very large, but we make the most of the space we have. We carry a variety of items, and the stock seems to grow and shrink depending on the season. Sometimes the shop feels like a bit of a maze with boxes stacked high. We spend our mornings opening up the shutters and sweeping the front step. There is a lot of talking involved in our day, mostly with neighbors or regular customers who stop in just to say hello. We don't use any fancy computer systems for everything; a lot of it is still done with pen and paper in old ledgers. It is a family business, so there are often a few of us around, debating where to put something new or how to reorganize the shelves. The atmosphere on Jew Street is unique, and we have grown used to the sounds of the crowds outside. We just keep things moving, making sure the shelves are full and the customers are looked after in a basic, straightforward way. It is not a high-speed environment, and we like the slower pace that comes with being in such an old part of town.
