We’ve been here at Friendship Nagar for a good while now. If you walk down Janatha Road in Palarivattom, you’ll find A B Furnishers right where the street gets a bit busy. It’s not a fancy place, mostly just sawdust on the floor and the sound of saws going through the day. We spend most of our time working with different types of wood, trying to get the joints to fit right. Sometimes the tea stall next door is the only break we get when things are backed up. The shop gets pretty hot in the afternoons, but that’s just how it is in this part of town. People from around the neighborhood stop by to ask about fixing a chair or getting something made for their homes. We keep a lot of timber stacked in the back, so there isn’t much room to move around. It smells like cedar and polish most mornings. Janatha Road has changed a bit over the years, more cars and bikes now, but we’re still in the same spot doing what we do. It’s a lot of manual work, lifting heavy boards and sanding things down until our hands are sore. We don’t have a big front office or anything like that. Just the workbench, our tools, and the projects we’re currently working on for folks in Palarivattom. It’s honest work and keeps us busy from Monday to Saturday without any fuss.
